Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, executed in the traditional Ottoman imperial monogram style with characteristic interlocking loops and vertical strokes. A crescent symbol appears within the tughra composition. The Arabic word عدل (meaning 'justice') and the numeral ١ appear beneath the tughra. The entire design is enclosed within a finely toothed or granulated border running along the coin's circumference, typical of hammered billon coinage of the Tripoli Regency.

Reverse description The reverse field bears a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged horizontally across the coin's center, reading the mint name and sultan's name: محمود (Mahmud) above طرابلس (Tarabulus/Tripoli), with the regnal year ١٢٢٣ (AH 1223) displayed along the lower portion. A six-pointed star ornament appears prominently at the top of the field above the inscriptions. The entire design is enclosed within the same toothed outer border as the obverse, consistent with the hammered technique employed at the Tripoli Mint.
