Opmerkingen

This note is a standard circulation 5 Baht of the ninth series, distinguished solely by a commemorative overprint applied to mark the 1969 celebrations of the King's 42nd birthday — an auspicious age in Thai belief, representing the completion of three twelve-year astrological cycles. The overprint itself was the event; the underlying note was already in circulation.

Thomas De La Rue had held the Bank of Thailand printing contract continuously since the early postwar period, making this a routine production run by a long-established commercial relationship rather than a specially commissioned piece.
