Obverse description The national arms of Oman occupy the central field, depicting two crossed khanjar daggers overlaid with a sword and belt, rendered in raised relief. The emblem is surrounded by an Arabic legend reading 'Qaboos bin Sa'id, Sultan of Oman,' arranged along the upper and lower periphery. A fine denticled border frames the entire design. The composition is bold and heraldic in style, consistent with modern Omani coinage conventions.

Additional information

The copper-clad steel composition dates to a 1998 retooling of Oman's smaller circulating denominations, replacing the earlier bronze planchets as part of a cost-reduction programme common across Gulf states during the prolonged low oil-price environment of the late 1990s. The magnetic planchet change is the primary distinction separating KM#150 from its predecessor.
