| Reverse description | The Roman numeral V is boldly rendered at the center of the field, superimposed upon a five-pointed star in low relief, the whole enclosed within a beaded or plain circle. The patriotic motto PATRIA Y LIBERTAD arcs as a curved legend along the upper portion of the coin, while the date appears in the exergue below. The weight and fineness designations — rendered as either '5.0 G.' (with period) or '5.0 G' (without period) in early issues, and later as '5 GR.' — are inscribed to the left and right of the central motif. A denticular border frames the entire reverse design close to the rim. The legend '250 M' denoting the alloy fineness also appears on the reverse field. |
