| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Ecuador occupies the central field, depicting a shield surmounted by a condor with outstretched wings, flanked by four national flags and palm and laurel branches at the sides. The shield itself displays Mount Chimborazo with a steamship on a river in the lower portion, and a sun with zodiac signs above. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR arcs around the upper periphery, and the date 1919 appears in the lower exergue. The coin's rim is milled throughout. |
