Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of King Edward VII, rendered in high relief with a draped and robed bust. The king wears an imperial state crown and an ermine-collared robe with a jewelled collar visible at the truncation. The engraver's initials 'G.D.S.' appear at the base of the truncation. The circular legend surrounding the effigy reads 'EDWARDVS VII D.G. REX IMPERATOR', disposed between the left and right rims in raised Latin lettering.
