Obverse description The obverse is printed in brown and green on a guilloche underprint of interlocking teal latticework with yellow floral rosette patterns. At centre, the denomination inscription FÜNF DEUTSCHE MARK is printed in three lines, flanked left by a large ornate numeral 5 within a scalloped cartouche accompanied by an oak branch vignette, and right by an allegorical seated female figure representing industry and commerce, with ships and machinery visible in the background. The series inscription SERIE 1948 and the alphanumeric serial number appear in the lower centre, with the legend BANKNOTE at top and DEUTSCHE MARK at bottom within the dark border.
