| 裏面の説明 | A grand intaglio vignette occupies the left portion of the note, illustrating the celebrated colonnaded nave of the Great Mosque of Kairouan, with its succession of horseshoe arches receding in perspective. To the right, the Tunisian national coat of arms is centrally placed, flanked by an olive branch vignette and the numeral 5. The whole composition is enclosed within a finely engraved guilloche border. |

Tunisia's first post-independence central bank notes were issued in 1960, just four years after France relinquished control. Bradbury Wilkinson, the New Malden firm with deep experience printing currency for newly independent nations across Africa and Asia, produced this series at a moment when the Banque Centrale de Tunisie was still establishing its institutional footing — the central bank itself had only been founded in 1958.
Pick 60 is the scarcest denomination of the inaugural series. Circulation was genuine and heavy, and attrition was high in a cash economy with limited banking infrastructure outside Tunis.
