| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central design features a stylized shield-shaped cartouche framing a detailed architectural rendering of the new Central Bank of Kuwait headquarters, depicting the distinctive tapered tower alongside the lower annex building, set above a wave motif at the base. Within the cartouche, the date 2017 appears in Arabic-European numerals at center, and the Central Bank of Kuwait circular seal is displayed at the lower portion of the cartouche. Decorative arabesques and scroll motifs flank both sides of the central design. The outer legend around the periphery reads in English: IN MARKING THE INAUGURATION OF THE NEW BUILDING OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF KUWAIT. The denomination 5 DINARS appears at the bottom in both Latin script and Arabic script (خمسة دنانير). |

Issued to mark the inauguration of the Central Bank of Kuwait's new headquarters, this piece belongs to a commemorative program Kuwait has used selectively since the 1960s to document institutional milestones. The Central Bank itself was established in 1969, replacing the Kuwait Currency Board that had overseen the dinar since its introduction in 1961.
Gold-plated .999 silver at this specification — the 28.28g, 38.61mm format — is the standard Crown coin dimension adopted globally after the Commonwealth's influence on commemorative minting, which says something about how thoroughly that format colonized even Gulf state issues.
