Denomination numerals '5' occupy each corner, with 'FIVE DOLLARS' in a panel at the lower centre, and a blue letterpress overprint reading 'ANTIGUA / PAYABLE AT ST. JOHN'S, ANTIGUA' is applied to this Specimen example. The date 'JAN. 2ND 1913' and place of issue 'MONTREAL' appear in the lower body of the note.

'THE ROYAL BANK OF CANADA' runs across the top, while 'FIVE' and 'FIVES' inscriptions appear along the lower border, the whole composition executed in intaglio engraving.
