Opmerkingen

Mongolia's 1924 currency series was issued in the immediate aftermath of the Mongolian People's Republic's establishment, when the new government had no domestic printing infrastructure whatsoever. Contracting the American Bank Note Company was a pragmatic necessity — and an ideologically awkward one for a Soviet-aligned state, given that ABNCo was a thoroughly capitalist American firm printing revolutionary currency.

The "R" suffix in Pick's catalog designation indicates a remainder — unissued stock, never formally released into circulation. This series is primarily known through remainders, which is why signed and dated issued examples command a significant premium over these unsigned counterparts.
