The seal bears the legend PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE in a circular band, with the Niuean motto ATUA / NIUE TUKULAGI inscribed on a ribbon beneath on crossed implements. The shield is framed by exuberant acanthus and baroque scrollwork extending to the coin's periphery, with a crosshatched background field enhancing the sculptural depth. The designer's monogram TS appears below the shield, flanked by the denomination numeral 5 and face value 5 DOLLARS along the lower arc.
