Obverse description Portrait of King George VI in military uniform at right, within a guilloche border. The centre carries the denomination FIVE DOLLARS in bold letterpress, above the date 1st July 1941, with the legal tender inscription in English, Jawi, and Tamil scripts. A large ornamental numeral '5' vignette appears at left, and the serial number is printed twice in dark ink.
Obverse lettering Board of Commissioners of Currency Malaya This Note is Legal Tender for Five Dollars in the Straits Settlements and Malay States
Reverse description The central vignette displays the composite arms of the Straits Settlements alongside those of the Malay States — Trengganu, Kedah, Kelantan, Johore, Perlis, Brunei, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan — arranged in an ornamental panel. The design is executed in intaglio on a fine guilloche underprint in green tones, with the denomination repeated at the corners.
