Beschrijving voorzijde A detailed architectural rendering of George Washington House in Barbados occupies the central field, depicted in three-quarter perspective with fine engraved detail highlighting its colonial-era facade, verandah, and fenestration. The background features a radiating star motif overlaid with a decorative Celtic-style knotwork border, while a laurel wreath frames the outer rim. At the lower centre, a circular cameo bears the Barbados coat of arms accompanied by the legends BARBADOS 2026 and PRIDE AND INDUSTRY above, and 5 DOLLARS Ag 999 below. The inscription GEORGE WASHINGTON HOUSE BARBADOS curves along the lower rim in incuse lettering.

Aanvullende informatie

Robert Livingston administered the oath of office to George Washington in 1789 as Chancellor of New York — the highest judicial officer in the state — making him the only person to have sworn in a president who was not himself a federal official. He later negotiated the Louisiana Purchase alongside James Monroe in 1803, doubling the size of the United States in a transaction Napoleon pushed through partly to fund his European campaigns.

Barbados has issued commemoratives under its central bank authority through licensing arrangements common in the Caribbean numismatic market; the 2026 date places this outside any current circulation series.
