Saint-Fabien's 5 Dollar note is a scrip issue — local currency produced as part of the broader complementary currency movement that gained traction across Quebec in the early 2000s. These municipal scrips were designed to encourage spending within the issuing community, keeping money circulating locally rather than draining into regional retail chains.

Collectible primarily as a curiosity of Canadian localism rather than for any rarity in the conventional numismatic sense. The print run was modest but these were not intended to survive long in circulation.
