Obverse description The obverse reproduces the design of the historic 1828 Greek phoenix coin, featuring the denomination «1 ΦΟΙΝΙΞ» (1 PHOENIX) at center within a wreath composed of one laurel and one olive branch. Surrounding the wreath is the legend «ΚΥΒΕΡΝΗΤΗΣ Ι.Α. ΚΑΠΟΔΙΣΤΡΙΑΣ» (GOVERNOR I.A. KAPODISTRIAS). The commemorative dual date «1821 2021» appears in the upper field, while the historic minting year «1828» is inscribed below, referencing the year Kapodistrias introduced the phoenix as Greece's first modern currency.
