| 裏面の説明 | The reverse is printed in soft blue and green tones with a harbour scene vignette: a veiled woman in a draped burnoose stands in the foreground carrying a cornucopia of fruit on her head, with a North African port, boats, and a lighthouse rendered in the background. The large numeral 5 appears within a dotted guilloche cartouche at the lower right. The issuer's name BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE is inscribed along the lower left in red letterpress, accompanied by a penal warning text against counterfeiting. |

Banque de l'Algérie had operated as Tunisia's bank of issue since 1904, and by 1944 the territory was in Allied hands following the North Africa campaign. This note was printed in liberated Paris — the Imprimerie du Gouvernement had resumed controlled production after the occupation — making it one of the earlier postwar Parisian printings for the Tunisian series rather than a wartime emergency issue.
The TUNISIE overprint or surcharge designation on Banque de l'Algérie notes reflects the dual mandate the bank held across two territories under a single charter, a structural quirk that persisted until Tunisia's own central bank was established in 1958.
