Reverse description A large Katanga cross — the traditional copper ingot cross used as indigenous currency — dominates the central field in bold relief, its four splayed arms filling the coin's interior. To the upper right of the cross, the two-line issuer legend BANQUE NATIONALE is inscribed in stylized Latin capitals. The denomination numeral 5 and the currency abbreviation FR appear to the left of the cross, while the date 1961 is placed in the lower exergual area below the cross, all contained within a raised border circle.
