| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse of this trial piece presents the denomination and issuing authority in the style characteristic of French colonial protectorate coinage of the 1891 period, engraved by Henri-Auguste Patey. The numeral '5' and the legend 'FRANCS' appear prominently within the central field, with the date below in the exergue or within the legend. The design is executed in a plain, utilitarian manner appropriate to a reverse trial strike intended to test the die and planchet specifications rather than serve as a circulating coin. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Comoro Islands came under formal French protectorate status in 1886, and the subsequent push to establish a local coinage reflected administrative ambitions that largely outpaced reality. This piece is a reverse trial — struck to evaluate die quality and design suitability before committing to a production run that, in the event, never materialized in tin. The 1891 coinage project for the Comorian protectorate was abandoned, leaving trial pieces as the sole physical record of the attempt.
Lec#9 is among the scarcer Lecompte references for this series.
