Obverse description Green and cream ground with a floral underprint at left, divided by two vertical dark green stripes. At upper left, a yellow circular vignette bears the currency name 'Heol' in white, with a small illustration of two hands clasped across a horizontal bar beneath it; the numeral '5' appears in large dark green to its left. The right two-thirds of the note carries a lively, naive-style illustration of five stylised figures — adults and a child — extending their arms so that their hands meet at centre, evoking community solidarity.

The Heol is a local complementary currency (monnaie complémentaire) circulating in the Pays de Brest area of Brittany, part of a broader French mouvement des monnaies locales that accelerated after the 2008 financial crisis. Like most French monnaies solidaires, Heol units are backed one-for-one against euros held in a dedicated account, and participating businesses agree to reinvest a share of transactions locally. The name means "sun" in Breton.

Serial numbers on issues of this type are the primary — often only — security feature, which keeps printing costs low enough for a community-run scheme to sustain.
