Obverse description A large grain sprig arcs gracefully from the lower field to the upper right, its stalk and ear of wheat rendered in fine relief against a plain field. To the left, the Arabic-script legend 'Türkiye Cumhuriyeti' (Republic of Turkey) is inscribed in an elaborate calligraphic tughra-style composition. The four-digit Arabic-numeral date appears below the inscription. The coin border is defined by a raised inner ring of fine beading.

Additional information

These coins mark the first years of the Turkish Republic's decimal currency reform under Atatürk, issued as the new state systematically dismantled the Ottoman monetary system. The aluminium bronze composition was a deliberate departure from the nickel alloys favored by the late Ottoman issues — chosen partly for cost and partly as a visible material break from the old regime.

The series ran only three years before the composition was revised, making the window of production unusually narrow.
