| Obverse description | Portrait vignette of King Umberto I set within an ornate engraved frame to the left, surrounded by fine guilloche scrollwork and the inscription REGNO D'ITALIA above. The right panel carries the principal text block with the denomination VALE CINQUE LIRE in large letterpress type, flanked by decorative arabesques; the numeral 5 appears in guilloche medallions at the upper and lower right corners. Two manuscript signatures appear below the value statement, one attributed to the Cassiere Speciale and one to the delegate of the Corte dei Conti. |
