Reverse description The denomination '5 / LIRE / ITALIANE' is inscribed in three lines at the center of the field, enclosed within a wreath composed of two asymmetrical branches: an olive branch on the left and a grape-cluster branch on the right, tied at the base. The circular legend 'GOVERNO PROVVISORIO DI LOMBARDIA' runs along the upper and lateral periphery, and the date '1848' appears in the lower exergue below the wreath, referencing the historical Provisional Government of Lombardy during the Risorgimento revolts. A fine beaded border frames the entire design.

Additional information

Lega Nord issued these pieces in the early 1990s as a political provocation rather than a functional currency — they were never legal tender but were distributed as propaganda tokens during the movement's push for northern Italian autonomy. The party's longtime leader Umberto Bossi used them as physical arguments for fiscal separatism, the premise being that the industrialized north was subsidizing a dependent south through Rome's tax apparatus.

Privately minted, with no state authorization whatsoever.
