The "Governo Revolucionario do Brazil" notes of 1924 were issued during the Coluna Prestes uprising — specifically tied to the tenentista revolutionary movement that sought to overthrow the Old Republic oligarchy. This 5 Mil Réis was printed and circulated in territories briefly held by rebel forces, giving it the character of a necessity issue rather than a formal emission from any established bank.
Surviving examples are genuinely rare. The revolutionary column was mobile and ultimately defeated, and most of these notes never re-entered any redemption system. Pick lists S881 under the Brazilian revolutionary issues, but solid provenance on individual notes is almost never established.
