| 裏面の説明 | The brass centre features the stylised Nazca Lines geoglyph of the Condor rendered in a linear, schematic manner, its outstretched wings and elongated body occupying the left portion of the field. To the right, the large numeral '5' is depicted in a stepped, pre-Columbian architectural style, with the Lima mint mark 'LM' monogram incorporated within it, and the word NUEVOS inscribed below the condor figure. The stainless steel ring is decorated with Andean geometric stepped-fret motifs around the entire circumference, with the word SOLES appearing at the base within the decorative border. |

Peru's nuevo sol was introduced in 1991 as part of a drastic monetary reform designed to kill off the inti, which had collapsed under inflation exceeding 7,000% annually by 1990. The "nuevo" designation was eventually dropped in 2015 when the currency was rebranded simply as the sol — making this among the final issues to carry the original reform-era name.
