| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is printed in a bicolour scheme of green and rose-red, with two large intaglio portrait vignettes set within ornate oval guilloche frames positioned at left and right of centre. Between them, the word CINCO is overprinted in bold red letterpress across the central guilloche underprint. Corner pieces repeat the numeral 5, and an intricate lathe-work border frames the entire composition. The note shows punch-cancellation holes consistent with a cancelled or specimen example. |

| Opmerkingen |
Banco de A. Edwards y Cía. was one of Chile's most prominent private issuing banks of the era, founded by Agustín Edwards Ossandón. The American Bank Note Company contract for this series placed it among the better-engraved private Chilean issues of the 1870s — ABNC was handling a significant volume of South American commercial bank work at this time, and the quality of intaglio work on these notes is noticeably superior to domestically produced alternatives.
Chilean private bank note issuance was ended by the 1925 monetary reforms that established the Banco Central de Chile, after which surviving stocks were withdrawn. The 1876 date puts this note just ahead of the severe financial disruption brought on by the War of the Pacific.
