| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in black and orange on white paper. At centre, an intaglio portrait vignette of Simón Bolívar in military uniform is framed by the denomination numeral '5' on either side. To the left, the Colombian coat of arms appears within an ornate guilloche panel with repeated 'CINCO' lettering; to the right, a standing female allegorical figure with a ship and industrial vignette in the background.
