Obverse description Central vignette is an intaglio portrait of General José de San Martín at left, accompanied by a reproduction of San Martín's last will and testament as an underprint element. At right, a vignette reproduces the painting 'Abrazo de Maipú' (The Embrace of Maipú), depicting the historic meeting between José de San Martín and Bernardo O'Higgins, after the original work by Pedro Subercaseaux. Guilloche rosette patterns and fine-line underprint fill the background.
