Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Honduras, centrally positioned within the field, featuring a triangular mountain landscape enclosed within an oval cartouche and surrounded by a circular legend. The arms are flanked on either side by standing indigenous figures bearing spears and shields, with additional spears arranged diagonally behind each figure. Above the shield rises an elaborate feathered crest or plume crown. The device is further adorned with laurel or olive branches forming a decorative wreath at the lower portion, tied with a ribbon, and a small Maltese cross pendant appears at the very base. The circular legend encircling the central shield reads REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS, with the date 1871 appearing below the shield within the cartouche.
