Obverse description Central vignette of the Nile river scene with a felucca sailing at left, the Pyramids of Giza rising in the background against a landscape of palm trees and riverbank, all rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The issuer's name 'National Bank of Egypt' appears in large stylized lettering at upper left, flanked by Arabic text above and below. Serial number appears twice, at upper right and lower left, with the denomination stated in English as 'FIVE EGYPTIAN POUNDS' at right, above a manuscript Governor's signature.

Reverse description Reverse printed predominantly in purple-blue with a dense, symmetrical arabesque guilloche pattern filling the entire field. A central ornamental cartouche bears the bank's name in Arabic script, surrounded by intricate floral and geometric underprint work. Denomination numerals '5' appear in each lower corner within decorative frames, with additional Arabic numeral and text panels at upper corners.
