Opmerkingen

The Bahamas Government issued currency directly rather than through a commercial bank — an arrangement that kept monetary control firmly in the hands of the colonial administration. This 5 Pounds note (Pick 12) was issued under George VI but carries a 1936 date, meaning the plates were prepared under Edward VIII's reign; the abdication in December of that year rendered the original design politically obsolete before printing was complete.

Three signature combinations are documented for the series, all pairing the Colonial Secretary against the Commissioner of Currency. Burnside replaced Moore as one of the signing officials, making the Moore-signed variant the earlier of the two circulating types.
