Azerbaijan's qəpik coinage has changed little since the manat was redenominated in 2006, collapsing the previous currency at a ratio of 5,000 to 1 following years of post-Soviet inflation. The 5 qəpik has been struck in this copper-plated steel format continuously since that redenomination, making the 2023 issue part of a long unbroken run rather than any distinct emission.
