Camp Amirabad, north of Tehran, served as a major Allied installation during the joint Anglo-Soviet occupation of Iran — the same occupation that forced Reza Shah's abdication in 1941. The Officers' Mess scrip issued there was an internal currency, circulating only within the camp economy to control spending and prevent local currency from leaking out of the base.
Blue paper was a deliberate security choice for mess scrip of this type, distinguishing denominations at a glance and complicating casual counterfeiting. These notes were never intended to survive the war.
