Issued as part of Bank Negara Malaysia's ongoing polymer and commemorative circulation program, this copper piece honors the Wau Bulan — the crescent kite associated particularly with Kelantan, where it carries deep cultural and competitive significance. The "Kilang Wang Bank" designation marks it as a product of the national mint, Kilang Wang, established in Shah Alam in 1971 to reduce Malaysia's dependence on foreign minting contracts.
