Transnistria's currency exists because the breakaway republic — unrecognized by any UN member state — cannot participate in international banking systems and has issued its own roubles since 1994. The 2000 series updated the earlier plastic-coated notes, returning to conventional paper stock. The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field on this note is not a production date — it commemorates the Soviet capture of Berlin, a date treated with particular reverence in a territory whose official identity remains anchored to the Soviet victory narrative.

Pick #35 is among the more common survivors from this series, though export is technically restricted.
