| Obverse description | The Coat of Arms of Mauritius is engraved at upper centre, flanked on either side by the serial number printed twice. The denomination FIVE RUPEES appears in large bold letterpress below the title THE GOVERNMENT OF MAURITIUS, with the promise-to-pay legend in cursive script beneath.
