Reverse description The quartered shield of the South African coat of arms occupies the centre of the field, depicting the four quarters: two figures supporting a wreath, a leaping springbok, an orange tree, and a wagon, all surmounted by a royal crown. The bilingual legends SOUTH AFRICA and ZUID AFRIKA flank the shield to the left and right respectively. The date 1937 is placed to either side of the upper shield, and the denomination 5 appears at the base flanked by decorative floral ornaments. A beaded border frames the entire design.
