Obverse description Cream-toned note printed in blue and dark blue on a fine guilloche underprint, with an elaborate floral and geometric lathe-work border framing the entire face. The colonial arms vignette is centred at the top, flanked by the serial number repeated on both left and right. The denomination FIVE SHILLINGS is set in bold letterpress within a guilloche panel at centre, with the fractional value 5/- repeated at each side; the date line reads 10th January 1928, and two manuscript signatures of the Directors of Currency appear at lower right above the printed authority line.

Reverse description The reverse is without printed design, the cream paper surface carrying only a faint all-over geometric guilloche watermark pattern in pale blue-grey, composed of interlocking angular motifs that repeat across the entire field.
