正面描述 The obverse is dominated by the bold central vignette bearing the black-on-guilloche panel inscription CINCO SOLES, flanked on either side by large numeral 5 medallions. The upper portion carries the issuer title EL BANCO DE PIURA in bold letterpress above a cursive promise-to-pay legend. Two allegorical female figures appear in intaglio at the lower left and lower right corners, with a red guilloche underprint covering the full face. Serial numbers appear in black at lower left and right, and the imprint of Giesecke & Devrient, Leipzig is present at the foot of the note.

备注

The Banco de Piura was one of several provincial Peruvian banks authorized under the 1873 banking law, which briefly liberalized note-issuing rights beyond Lima. Giesecke & Devrient in Leipzig handled a significant share of South American bank note production during this period, and the Piura commission was typical of that regional business — a provincial issuer with limited capitalization ordering small print runs from a European security printer.

Piura's notes circulated in the country's far north, a region economically tied to cotton and sugar exports. The bank did not survive long past the War of the Pacific, which devastated Peru's financial system after 1879.
