SOCIEDAD ANONIMA
ANTONIO JOSE DE SUCRE
QUITO,
GERENTE GENERAL
SUPERINTENDENTE DE BANCOS
VOCAL
CINCO SUCRES
AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY.
背面描述 Printed entirely in red intaglio on a white cotton paper ground, the reverse is dominated by a large central vignette of the Ecuadorian coat of arms — an oval shield surmounted by a condor with spread wings, flanked by pairs of Ecuadorian national flags and fasces. Dense guilloche latticework fills the lateral panels, each bearing the numeral "5" at the corners and in side cartouches. The issuer's legend "BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR" arches across the top, and the denomination "CINCO SUCRES" appears in a recessed banner at the foot, with the printer's imprint below.

备注

The Banco Central del Ecuador's reliance on the American Bank Note Company stretched across decades and multiple denominations, but by the mid-1970s ABNC was already in financial difficulty — the company declared bankruptcy in 1990, and contracts from this period represent some of its final years of active production for Latin American clients. Ecuador was among the last countries still commissioning work from them.

The 5 Sucres denomination held stubbornly low purchasing power through this issue's lifespan, eroded by inflation that accelerated sharply in the early 1980s. Notes from the later dates in this range circulated hard.
