| Opmerkingen |
Vietnam's polymer series, introduced from 2003, was a deliberate shift away from the cotton-paper notes that had plagued the country with counterfeiting problems through the 1990s. The 50,000 Đồng was among the first denominations converted. Notably, production has been split between Note Printing Australia — which supplied the base polymer substrate and initial print runs — and Vietnam's own National Banknote Printing Plant, which took on increasing manufacturing responsibility as domestic capacity expanded.
The P#121 series has remained in continuous issue for over two decades with no major redesign, an unusually long uninterrupted run for a mid-range denomination in a country that has periodically restructured its currency.
