50 000 Guaranies

Paraguay's 50,000 Guaraní denomination was introduced as the country's highest face-value note — a direct consequence of the prolonged inflation that eroded purchasing power through the 1980s and 1990s, itself rooted in the economic distortions of the Stroessner dictatorship and the chaotic banking sector collapses of 1995–1998, which wiped out roughly a third of Paraguay's private banks and triggered a severe contraction in public confidence in domestic finance.

Oberthur Fiduciaire's involvement here is unsurprising given their long relationship with several South American central banks, though Paraguay also used other security printers for different series in this period. The P#225A designation distinguishes this from subsequent polymer or revised intaglio variants introduced later in the series.
