Opmerkingen

This series bridges two political orders. The notes were issued across the period that saw Mohammed Daoud Khan overthrow his cousin King Mohammed Zahir Shah in the 1973 coup — ending over two centuries of continuous Durrani dynasty rule — and continued circulating until Daoud himself was killed in the Saur Revolution of April 1978. The same physical note passed through a monarchy's collapse and a republic's violent end.

De La Rue's production for Afghanistan during this period was consistent and technically clean. The watermark remains the primary and only security feature, modest even by the standards of the time.
