| 裏面の説明 | The reverse displays a highly stylized depiction of a Northern shrimp (Pandalus borealis) rendered in fine incised lines, occupying the upper portion of the field. The shrimp is shown in lateral profile with its characteristic long antennae extending to the left and its segmented body and tail rendered in precise detail. Below the crustacean, the bold numeral 50 denoting the face value is prominently placed in the lower central field. The overall design is clean and uncluttered, with the shrimp motif reflecting Iceland's important marine fishing industry. |

Iceland switched from pure bronze to bronze-plated steel for this denomination in 1969, a cost-driven response to rising copper prices that affected mint operations across Scandinavia during the late 1960s. The 1986 date falls well into the plated-steel period, when the aurar's purchasing power had been so thoroughly eroded by Iceland's chronic inflation — among the highest in the Western world through the 1970s and 80s — that the coin was largely irrelevant in daily transactions before it was eventually demonetized.
