| Obverse description | Facing bust of Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, the Spanish conquistador and founder of Nicaragua, depicted in Renaissance attire with a prominent ruffled collar and full beard, set within a raised inner circle. The surrounding legend reads REPÚBLICA DE NICARAGUA along the upper periphery in Latin characters. Five small five-pointed stars are spaced evenly along the lower arc of the inner circle, flanking the date which appears in the lower exergual area. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail, conveying a formal, classical character consistent with early twentieth-century Latin American coinage. |

| Reverse description | Central device depicting five volcanic peaks rising from a shoreline, with a radiant sun emerging from behind the central cone and a Phrygian cap resting upon the leftmost peak, all enclosed within a raised inner circle — emblematic elements derived from the arms of Central America. The upper legend EN DIOS CONFIAMOS (In God We Trust) arcs above the central device, while the denomination 50 CENTAVOS DE CÓRDOBA is inscribed along the lower periphery in two lines. Small dots serve as punctuation marks flanking the denomination numeral on the left and the motto on the right. The overall design is bold and well-struck, with clear definition of the landscape and heraldic elements. |
