Beschrijving keerzijde A coloured depiction of the supersonic passenger aircraft Concorde is shown in a dynamic low-angle ascending view, with engine exhaust trails streaking behind, set against a stylised world map rendered in muted gold tones across the central field. The bold legend CONCORDE appears in black above the aircraft, with the date 1976 in large numerals beneath it. The inscription 50TH ANNIVERSARY curves along the upper border, while FIRST TRANSATLANTIC CROSSING is inscribed diagonally along the right field. A decorative geometric border frames the entire reverse design.

Aanvullende informatie

The Concorde program ended in 2003 when Air France and British Airways retired the fleet following the July 2000 crash of Flight 4590 at Gonesse, which killed all 109 on board and effectively ended public confidence in the aircraft's safety record. Solomon Islands has issued commemorative pieces in this series before, licensing the Concorde subject through the broader Pacific island commemorative coin trade — a well-established market where small sovereigns issue high-volume collectibles with little domestic circulation intended.
