| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a large intaglio vignette of the natural rock arch at Tadrart Acacus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwestern Libya, rendered in grey-green tones against a light guilloche underprint. The denomination numeral '50' appears in bold at upper left and lower right, flanking the central vignette. Decorative geometric and floral guilloche patterns fill the lateral panels, with the bank name and denomination lettering set in the upper and lower margins. |

Libya's 2013 series was issued amid the post-Gaddafi transitional government's effort to establish new currency symbols after four decades of notes dominated by the old regime's iconography. Thomas De La Rue printed this denomination, as they had handled much of Libya's note production going back to the monarchy period — a continuity of contractor that outlasted several governments.
The security package is relatively modest for a high-value note of this period, relying on watermark and thread without the optically variable elements De La Rue was producing for other clients by the early 2010s.
