Pick 80 is among the first issues from Dar As-Sikkah to incorporate color-shifting ink on a Moroccan dirham note — a security upgrade that reflects the facility's ongoing investment in intaglio and specialty printing since it absorbed full production responsibilities from European contractors in the late 1980s. The 50 Dirham denomination has historically occupied a workhorse role in Moroccan retail circulation, which makes robust security specification on this value a practical priority rather than a prestige decision.
Dar As-Sikkah, the Royal Mint's banknote division, has printed all Moroccan notes since 1987, ending decades of reliance on De La Rue and the Banque de France.
