| Opmerkingen |
The Bank of Nova Scotia's private charter note series straddled two printers, and attribution between ABNC and CBNC on this denomination remains genuinely contested among specialists. The Canadian Bank Note Company was incorporated in 1897 largely by splitting off Canadian contracts from the American Bank Note Company's roster — the two firms shared design conventions, personnel, and in some cases plate work, which is precisely why the question of who printed any given example from this period is rarely simple.
The fifty-dollar face value placed this note firmly in commercial and interbank use rather than retail circulation. Surviving examples are correspondingly scarce in any grade.
