Obverse description The obverse carries a central vignette of the Chiremba Balancing Rocks in Matopos National Park, rendered against a multicoloured guilloche underprint. The Zimbabwe Bird national emblem appears in colour-shifting ink at upper right. Denomination numerals and the issuer's title are printed in intaglio.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in shades of rose and violet, with a central oval vignette illustrating the Hwange Thermal Power Station, its cooling towers and chimney stacks rendered in fine intaglio line work against a complex geometric guilloche background. A vertical band along the left margin carries alternating triangle and diamond motifs in multicolour with repeating numeral 50, while the denomination numerals 50 appear at upper left and lower right.
